The National Institute of Transport (NIT) was established by the National Institute of Transport Act, Cap 187 R.E 2002. It is fully accredited by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) with Registration number REG/EOS/009 of 2002. 

1.0. TUTOR/ INSTRUCTOR II IN MARITIME TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT 

(1 POST) 

1.1. Duties and Responsibilities. 

(i) Teaches up to NTA level 6 (Ordinary Diploma) and may assist as Tutorial 

Assistant in higher NTA Levels; (ii) Assist to carryout Research and consultancy and works; (iii) Administer examinations for NTA level 6 Students; (iv) Conduct tutorials for NTA 7; (v) Prepares learning resources; (vi) Assists in supervising field training; (vii) Supervises and assists Junior Staff; and 

THE UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA

(viii) Performs any other duties as assigned by a Supervisor. 

1.2. Qualifications and Experience. 

Bachelor Degree (NTA 8) in Logistics and Transport Management with elective in Maritime Transport Management. The applicant should have a GPA of not less than 3.5 from any recognized Institution. 

1.3. Salary Scale: PTSS 10-11 

2.0. TUTOR/ INSTRUCTOR II IN SHIPPING AND PORT MANAGEMENT (1 POST) 

2.1. Duties and Responsibilities. 

(i) Teaches up to NTA level 6 (Ordinary Diploma) and may assist as tutorial 

assistant in higher NTA Levels; (ii) Conduct tutorials for NTA 7; (iii) Assist to carryout Research and consultancy and works; (iv) Administer examinations for NTA level 6 Students; (v) Prepares learning resources; (vi) Assists in supervising field training; (vii) Supervises and assists Junior Staff; and (viii) Performs any other duties as assigned by a Supervisor. 

2.2. Qualifications and Experience. 

Bachelor Degree (NTA 8) either in Maritime Transportation, Maritime Transport or Nautical science with a GPA of not less than 3.5 from any recognized Institution. 

2.3. Salary Scale: PTSS 10-11 

3.0. TUTOR/ INSTRUCTOR II IN AIR TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT (1 POST) 

3.1. Duties and Responsibilities. 

(i) Teaches up to NTA level 6 (Ordinary Diploma) and may assist as Tutorial 

Assistant in higher NTA Levels; (ii) Conduct tutorials for NTA 7; (iii) Assist to carryout Research and consultancy and works; (iv) Administer examinations for NTA level 6 Students; (v) Prepares learning resources; 

(vi) Assists in supervising field training; (vii) Supervises and assists Junior Staff; and (viii) Performs any other duties as assigned by a Supervisor. 

3.2. Qualifications and Experience. 

Bachelor Degree (NTA 8) in Logistics and Transport Management with elective in Air Transport Management. The applicant should have a GPA of not less than 3.5 from any recognized Institution. 

3.3. Salary Scale: PTSS 10-11 

4.0 TUTOR/ INSTRUCTOR II IN AIRCRAFT MAITENANCE ENGINEERING 

(2 POSTS) 

4.1 Duties and Responsibilities: 

(i) Teaches up to NTA level 6 (Ordinary Diploma) and may assist as tutorial 

assistant in higher NTA Levels; (ii) Conduct tutorials for NTA 7; (iii) Assist in undertaking research; (iv) Administer examinations for NTA level 6 Students; (v) Prepare learning resources; (vi) Assists in supervising field training; (vii) Ascertain compliance with safety requirements at all times during training; (viii) Develop and reviews curricula; (ix) Provide on the job training to junior staff; (x) Review the maintenance plans; (xi) Supervise subordinates; (xii) Uphold aviation maintenance standards; (xiii) Supervise overhaul and testing of maintenance equipment’s and tools; (xiv) Issue technical drawing relating to maintenance of aircraft structure; and (xv) Perform any other duties as may be assigned by a supervisor. 

4.2 Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor Degree either in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Aeronautical engineering or Bachelor of Engineering in Aircraft Maintenance (NTA 8) with a GPA of not less than 3.5 or an overall average of not less than B grade or above for unclassified degree in the relevant field from any recognized Institution. 

4.3 Salary Scale: PTSS 10-11. 

5.0 PILOT TUTOR/ INSTRUCTOR II (4 POSTS) 

5.1 Duties and Responsibilities: 

(i) Conduct pilot training which includes, ground training, flight training, 

Simulator base training, Route Proficiency Check and Instrument training; (ii) Assess flying competence of the trainee pilots being instructed and 

submit recommendations; (iii) Train pilots to become instructors; (iv) Ascertain compliance with safety requirements at all times during 

training; (v) Develop and review training programmes; (vi) Conduct examinations and submits results; (vii) Assist in undertaking research; (viii) Support conduction of research and consultancy works; (ix) Provide on the job training to junior staff; and (x) Perform any other duties as may be assigned by a supervisor. 

5.2 Qualifications and Experience: 

(i) Bachelor Degree either in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Aerospace 

Science, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics or Telecommunication Engineering with a GPA of not less than 3.5; or an overall average of not less than B grade or above for unclassified degree in the relevant field from any recognized Institution, (ii) He/She must be able to communicate thoroughly in spoken and written 

English, (iii) Must not be older than 30 years at the time of application. 

5.3 Salary Scale: PTSS 10-11 

6.0 TUTOR/ INSTRUCTOR II IN MATHEMATICS (1 POST) 

6.1 Duties and Responsibilities: 

(i) Teaches up to NTA level 6 (Ordinary Diploma) and may assist as tutorial 

assistant in higher NTA Levels; (ii) Conduct tutorials for NTA 7; (iii) Assist to carryout Research and consultancy and works; (iv) Administer examinations for NTA level 6 Students; (v) Prepares learning resources; (vi) Assists in supervising field training; 

(vii) Supervises and assists Junior Staff; and (viii) Performs any other duties as assigned by a Supervisor. 

6.2 Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor of Education with Mathematics and Information Technology (NTA 8) with a GPA of not less than 3.5 from any recognized Institution. 

6.3 Salary Scale: PTSS 10-11 

7.0 TUTOR/ INSTRUCTOR II IN ECONOMICS (2 POSTS) 

7.1 Duties and Responsibilities: 

(i) Teaches up to NTA level 6 (Ordinary Diploma) and may assist as tutorial 

assistant in higher NTA Levels; (ii) Conduct tutorials for NTA 7; (iii) Assist to carryout Research and consultancy and works; (iv) Administer examinations for NTA level 6 Students; (v) Prepares learning resources; (vi) Assists in supervising field training; (vii) Supervises and assists Junior Staff; and (viii) Performs any other duties as assigned by a Supervisor. 

7.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

Bachelor Degree in Economics with a GPA of not less than 3.5 from any recognized Institution. 

7.3 Salary Scale: PTSS 10-11 

8.0 TUTOR/ INSTRUCTOR II IN LEGAL AND INDUSTRIAL METROLOGY (1 

POST) 

8.1 Duties and Responsibilities: 

(i) Teaches up to NTA level 6 (Ordinary Diploma) and may assist as tutorial 

assistant in higher NTA Levels; (ii) Conduct tutorials for NTA 7; (iii) Assist to carryout Research and consultancy and works; (iv) Administer examinations for NTA level 6 Students; (v) Prepares learning resources; (vi) Assists in supervising field training; 

(vii) Supervises and assists Junior Staff; and (viii) Performs any other duties as assigned by a Supervisor. 

8.2 Qualifications and Experience: 

Bachelor Degree in Legal and Industrial Metrology with a GPA of not less than 3.5 from any recognized Institution. 

8.3 Salary Scale: PTSS 10-11 

9.0 TUTOR/ INSTRUCTOR II IN MATERIALS TECHNOLOGY (1 POST) 

9.1 Duties and Responsibilities: 

(i) Teaches up to NTA level 6 (Ordinary Diploma) and may assist teaching in 

higher NTA Levels; (ii) Conduct tutorials for NTA 7; (iii) Assist to carryout Research and consultancy and works; (iv) Assists in administering examinations for NTA level 6 Students; (v) Prepares learning resources; (vi) Assists in Supervising field training; (vii) Supervise and assists Junior Staff; and (viii) Performs any other duties as assigned by Supervisor. 

9.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (NTA 8) with a GPA of not less than 3.5 from any recognized Institution 

9.3Salary Scale: PTSS 10-11 

10.0 TUTOR/ INSTRUCTOR II IN HYDRAULIC AND PNEUMATICS TECHNOLOGY (1 

POST) 

10.1 Duties and Responsibilities: 

(i) Teaches up to NTA level 6 (Ordinary Diploma) and may assist teaching in 

higher NTA Levels; (ii) Conduct tutorials for NTA 7; (iii) Assist to carryout Research and consultancy and works; (iv) Assists in administering examinations for NTA level 6 Students; (v) Prepares learning resources; (vi) Assists in Supervising field training; (vii) Supervises and assists Junior Staff; and 

(viii) Performs any other duties as assigned by Supervisor. 

10.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (NTA 8) with a GPA of not less than 3.5 from any recognized Institution. 

10.3 Salary Scale: PTSS 10-11 

11.0 TUTOR/ INSTRUCTOR II IN FOUNDRY AND METAL FABRICATION (1 POST) 

11.1 Duties and Responsibilities: 

(i) Teaches up to NTA level 6 (Ordinary Diploma) and may assist teaching in 

higher NTA Levels; (ii) Conduct tutorials for NTA 7; (iii) Assist to carryout Research and consultancy and works; (iv) Assists in administering examinations for NTA level 6 Students; (v) Prepares learning resources; (vi) Assists in Supervising field training; (vii) Supervises and assists Junior Staff; and (viii) Performs any other duties as assigned by Supervisor. 

11.2 Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (NTA 8) with a GPA of not less than 3.5 from any recognized Institution 

11.3 Salary Scale: PTSS 10-11 

12.0 TUTOR/ INSTRUCTOR II IN WELDING TECHNOLOGY (1 POST) 

12.1 Duties and Responsibilities: 

(i) Teaches up to NTA level 6 (Ordinary Diploma) and may assist teaching in 

higher NTA Levels; (ii) Conduct tutorials for NTA 7; (iii) Assist to carryout Research and consultancy and works; (iv) Assists in administering examinations for NTA level 6 Students; (v) Prepares learning resources; (vi) Assists in Supervising field training; (vii) Supervises and assists Junior Staff; and 

(viii) Performs any other duties as assigned by Supervisor. 

12.2 Qualifications and Experience: 

Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (NTA 8) with a GPA of not less than 3.5 from any recognized Institution. 

12.3 Salary Scale: PTSS 10-11

13.0 TUTOR/ INSTRUCTOR II IN MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING (1 POST) 

13.1 Duties and Responsibilities: 

(i) Teaches up to NTA level 6 (Ordinary Diploma) and may assist teaching in 

higher NTA Levels; (ii) Conduct tutorials for NTA 7; (iii) Assist to carryout Research and consultancy and works; (iv) Assists in administering examinations for NTA level 6 Students; (v) Prepares learning resources; (vi) Assists in Supervising field training; (vii) Supervises and assists Junior Staff; and (viii) Performs any other duties as assigned by Supervisor. 

13.2 Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (NTA 8) with a GPA of not less than 3.5 from any recognized Institution. 

13.3 Salary Scale: PTSS 10-11 

14.0 TUTOR/ INSTRUCTOR II IN RECORDS AND ARCHIVES MANAGEMNT (1 POSTS) 

14.1 Duties and Responsibilities: 

(i) Teaches up to NTA level 6 (Ordinary Diploma) and may assist teaching in 

higher NTA Levels; (ii) Conduct tutorials for NTA 7; (iii) Assist to carryout Research and consultancy and works; (iv) Assists in administering examinations for NTA level 6 Students; (v) Prepares learning resources; (vi) Assists in Supervising field training; (vii) Supervises and assists Junior Staff; and (viii) Performs any other duties as assigned by Supervisor. 

14.2 Qualifications and Experience Bachelor Degree in Public Administration in Records and Archives Management (NTA 8) with a GPA of not less than 3.5 from any recognized Institution. 

14.3 Salary Scale: PTSS 

15.0 LABORATORY TECHNICIAN II IN WELDING TECHNOLOGY (1 POST) 

15.1 Duties and Responsibilities: 

(i) Implement specified maintenance plans for Institute facilities; (ii) Implement specified technical plans and designs connected with repair and 

maintenance work; (iii) Assist in students’ welding practical and projects; (iv) Maintain welding laboratory/ workshop facilities and equipment; (v) Train or orient newly recruited technicians / artisans; (vi) Supervise junior technicians; (vii) Assist lecturers and Instructors in carrying out specific support activities in 

their teaching, research and consultancy projects/assignments; (viii) Provide specialized welding technical services to the public; and (ix) Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Supervisor. 

15.2 Qualifications and Experience: Ordinary Diploma (NTA 6) in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized Institution. 

15.2 Salary Scale: PGSS 4.1 

16.0 LABORATORY TECHNICIAN II IN ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATION 

ENGINEERING (1 POST) 

16.1 Duties and Responsibilities: 

(i) Implement specified maintenance plans for Institute facilities; (ii) Implement specified technical plans and designs connected with repair and 

maintenance work; (iii) Assist in students’ practical and projects; (iv) Maintain laboratory/ workshop facilities and equipment; (v) Train or orient newly recruited technicians/artisans; (vi) Supervise junior technicians; 

(vii) Assist lecturers and Instructors in carrying out specific support activities in

17.0 LABORATORY TECHNICIAN II IN AIRCRAFT POWER PLANT AND AIRFRAME (3 

POSTS) 

17.1 Duties and Responsibilities: 

(i) Conducts Aircraft Technicians training; (ii) Plan, prepare, and evaluate lesson plans; (iii) Develop and reviews curricula; (iv) Conduct examinations and submits results; (v) Conduct consultancy and community services; (vi) Provide on the job training to junior staff; (vii) Assists in undertaking research; (viii) Maintain aircraft on line Maintenance and in the hangar; (ix) Meeting and dispatching Aircraft instructed by supervisor; (x) Carry out and rectification on Aircraft, Electrical, Electronics and 

Telecommunication system; and (xi) Perform any other duties as may be assigned by ones’ reporting officer. 

17.2 Qualifications and Experience: Diploma (NTA 6) in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering from recognized institutions. 

17.3Salary Scale: PGSS 4.1 

18.0 LABORATORY TECHNICIAN II IN AVIATION ELECTRONICS (AVIONICS) 

(1 POST) 

18.1 Duties and Responsibilities: 

(i) Conduct Aircraft Technicians training; (ii) Plan, prepare and evaluate lesson plans;
