Job Opportunities at CEMDO – Tanzania
Community Environmental Management and Development Organization (CEMDO –Tanzania) under support of SAVE THE CHILDREN, funded by USAID is pleased to invite qualified Tanzanians to fill the following vacancies in Lishe Endelevu project, that aims at improving nutrition outcomes for women of reproductive age, children under five, and adolescent girls, meaningfully advancing Tanzania along its journey to self-reliance in Morogoro region-Malinyi, Ulanga ,Kilosa, Gairo, Kilombero and Ifakara Councils).
 
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Project Name: Lishe Endelevu.
Project Period: 3 years and six months
Focus area: Nutrition
Place of duty: Morogoro region.
Starting Date: Immediately
Vacancies to be applied:


1. 1. Project Coordinator (Advert no 004/2019-1 post-CEMDO Ifakara office )
JOB PURPOSE:
The Project Coordinator responsibilities include preparation of comprehensive action plans including
planning, resources, budgeting, timeframes, and coordinating for the successful implementation of the
Lishe Endelevu projects.
This will include coordinating various day-to-day activities such as administrative duties, project
documentation, financial queries, event management and reporting to ensure that all projects are
completed on time, within budget and meet high quality standards.
Programme Implementation
 Provide leadership for timely and efficient project implementation within the organization
 Facilitate project planning sessions and create an enabling environment for implementation
 Facilitate and support project documentation of both process and outcome implementation.
Conduct and support project information dissemination using abstracts in conferences and
related platforms. Facilitate and develop functional stakeholder partnerships and guide their
performance, outcomes and outputs
 Working collaboratively with different implementation teams ensuring project oversight

 To ensure that the Lishe Endelevu Project team are familiar with project approach and effective
management of their respective project/activity component contracts and requirements
 Ensure that all technical officers and other Lishe Endelevu project staff are conversant with
CEMDO/Save the Children financial, administrative and logistical systems, and apply them
properly.
Managerial oversight of Lishe Endelevu contracts
 Ensure project quality of Lishe Endelevu, including quality of donor reporting and contribution
to new project/program design process through documented learning and innovation
 Receive and review Technical Project /narrative and financial reports, ensure proper finalization
in a timely manner, and submit final versions to Save the Children regional Team/CEMDO
Program Director for approval and verification.
 Support the development of new funding opportunities occasionally in other CEMDO Key
areas programs and accordingly participating in proposal designs as necessary
Strategic Leadership
 Take lead supportive role in the development and implementation of CEMDO impact
program/project strategy incorporating key elements of the Lishe Endelevu project relevant
National Strategies and CEMDO Strategic Plans,
 Lead the supportive process of new project/program design, including the preparation of
concept notes and proposals to strengthen PAPR program’s sustainability and impact
 Support building capacities of CEMDO staff, especially in planning and conducting underlying
causes of poverty, Malnutrition and vulnerability analysis to strengthen Lishe Endelevu project
design and quality;
 Promote a learning environment within the team that facilitates two-way learning with various
stakeholders.
 Promote forward accountability to the Lishe Endelevu Project/program and ensure their
participation in program quality and impact evaluations.
Staff Management and Administration
 Direct line management of CEMDO Project Officers for Lishe Endelevu project/Program to
Monitoring and Evaluation Officer.
 Ensure the proper implementation of CEMDO’s performance management system for direct
reports and proactively address performance issues through regular and constructive feedback
and coaching/mentoring;
 Ensure that the reporting is professional and timely, including review of financial and narrative
reports before submission to donors;
 Foster an environment of shared leadership and accountability and create the Field Office
Leadership Team as advised by the country office.
 Represent CEMDO in important meetings, workshops/conferences and debates in
programming areas other areas.
Requirements:
 Bachelor’s degree, in development studies, Public health, project management, Rural
Development, Agriculture, Nutrition or relevant fields (Master’s degree will be an added
advantage)
 Minimum of 3 years’ working experience in similar position preferably in NGO.
 Experience/skills in projects’ management ,Administrative and reporting;
 Experience with Child Rights or health based programming is an advantage
 Knowledge of and experience in project cycle management, including the use of Theory of
Change and other planning tools


 Excellent communication capabilities;
 Computer literacy;
 Proficient in English and Kiswahili language.
 Strong commitment of work.
 Flexibility, availability to perform other duties;
 Team Player;

2. Project MEAL/M&E Officer (Advert no 005/2019-1 post- CEMDO Ifakara office)


The MEAL/M&E Officer is responsible for providing technical monitoring and evaluation support to
program teams and overseeing all M&E plans for programs. These responsibilities include but are not
limited to designing monitoring and evaluation tools, planning surveys or evaluations, analyzing and
reporting quantitative and qualitative M&E data, and working with local partners to build their
capacity. The MEAL Officer is expected to regularly visit field areas.
S/he will also lead learning and reflection activities to improve project quality, monitor results and
impact, share lessons learned, success stories and ensure that accountability and other cross-cutting issues
are adequately incorporated into project and MEAL activities
Major Duties
 To undertake the routine field checking of the work of enumerators supervise quality in the
field and ensure data accuracy and completeness.
 Facilitates capacity-building on M&E to staffs and partners to ensure proper project
implementation and monitoring as well as data collection and management
 Develop related project qualitative and quantitative M&E tools with the technical support from
project coordinator
 Write and review of all reports including weekly, monthly and quarterly reports as per program
requirement
 Strengthen the MEAL systems and processes to assure achievement and progress towards project
objectives and outcomes.
 Develop outcome and learning indicators for log frames and other purposes.
 Monitor activity implementation progress against objectives and work plans
 Conduct community visits, focus group discussions with beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries to
receive feedback on Islamic Relief Kenya project activity
Requirements:
 A degree in an area of social work, development studies, statistics, or equivalent.
 Minimum of 3 years’ working experience in similar position preferably in NGO.
 Minimum practical experience in M&E system and tools
 Demonstrable track-record in data tracking and evaluation, with the ability to support staff on
M&E methodology and analyze and disseminate complex information to a range of stakeholder
audiences;
 Excellent communication capabilities;
 Computer literacy;
 Proficient in English and Kiswahili language.
 Strong commitment of work.
 Flexibility, availability to perform other duties;
 Team Player;

3. Project Officer- Nutritionist (Advert no 006/2019-2 posts)

 Provide nutrition technical supportive supervision and mentorship to the Community health
workers (CHWs) & Home base care (HBCs) at community level.
 Leading all implementation of nutrition interventions under Lishe Endelevu Project including
planning and budgeting at district and community level with the support from Save the
Children regional team.
 Counsels clients/beneficiaries on nutrition and ideal nutritional choices based on the client’s
current condition.
 Conduct community sensitization meeting on the importance of SBCC Siku 1000, care group
models and nutrition SBCC kits.
 Collaborate and work closely with the Local Government, District nutritionists and District
Nutrition Technical facilitators (DNTFs) and District Education officer in Scaling up nutrition
activities in the district
 Supportive supervision to health facilities- RCH
Requirements:
 Relevant diploma or degree in Nutrition, public health or relevant fields
 Minimum of 3 years’ working experience in similar position preferably in NGO.
 Experience/skills in projects’ management ,Administrative and reporting;
 Excellent communication capabilities;
 Computer literacy;
 Proficient in English and Kiswahili language.
 Strong commitment of work.
 Flexibility, availability to perform other duties;
 Team Player;

4. Project Extension Officers – Agriculture /Livestock officer (Advert no 007/2019-
4 posts)


An agricultural/livestock extension officer directly works with farmers and other stakeholders related to
agriculture/livestock. Their primary role is to aid these farmers or groups to make better decisions to
increase agricultural production and providing Training to farmers, farmer groups, and model farmers
on Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture/Livestock Practices. The extension officer is constantly armed with the
latest techniques and information related to agriculture and they relay this information to farmers and
agricultural business.
Duties
 Mobilize community to establish of kitchen gardens and livestock keeping (small
animals) and scaling of successful approaches
 Provide agriculture extension service support to model farmers or focal farming
households
 Advise farmers to adopt best farming practices
 To demonstrate on farms the proper use and application of inputs.
 To monitor and assist in collecting data from both demonstration farms and farmer’s farms in
the area of operations.
 Coordinate and liaise with other stakeholders in the project implementation

To develop the capacity of farmers to adopt and implement better practices through exposure
to new knowledge, information, skills, inputs and processes to improve the long term
performance of their farm businesses;
 To encourage farmers to adopt better practices through exposure to new knowledge,
information, skills, inputs and processes to improve the long term performance of their farm
businesses;
 To work with the Agriculture officer to generate public awareness on important agricultural
issues (especially the advantages of local production, quality, climate change and safety), as well
as to communicate all aspects of the Lishe Endelevu Project to a wide range of stakeholders
 Prepare field visit reports and reports
Requirements:
 Holds a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in either Agriculture or Food Technology or Agriculture
& Home Economics or Agricultural Education & Horticulture or any other relevant and
equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
 Have at least two (2) years’ experience in the relevant field;
 Experience/skills in projects’ management ,Administrative and reporting;
 Excellent communication capabilities;
 Computer literacy;
 Proficient in English and Kiswahili language.
 Strong commitment of work.
 Flexibility, availability to perform other duties;
 Team Player;
