The International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) is a Public International Organization governed by an international board of directors with representation from developed and developing countries.
IFDC is implementing REACH (Resilient Efficient Agribusiness Chains) project funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The project operates in Eastern and South western regions, covering the districts of Kisoro, Kabale, Kanungu and Rubanda in Kigezi sub-region from south western region, and Kween, Kapchorwa, Butalejja, Budaka, Mbale, Bulambuli, Sironko, Tororo, Iganga, Bugiri, Kibuku, Pallisa, Namutumba, from eastern region.
IFDC would like to recruit Field Extension Workers (FEWs) who can provide services to successfully deliver training modules in the following thematic areas:
Farming as a Business (FaaB)
Good Agronomic Practices (GAP)
Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA)
Farmer Institutional Development
These services will be required in the two geographic regions mentioned above. Training will initially focus on two crops, rice and Irish potato, but may expand to cover a wider range of crops at a future date including soybean, beans, ground nuts, climbing beans and onions. Please note, IFDC will provide detailed training materials, which contracted FEWs will be expected to use. The contracted FEWs will be expected to be resident and with knowledge of the operational terrain in which they will work. Implementers will be expected to perform M&E activities related to the delivery of trainings. Following international best practice, all contracts will be fixed fee milestone based agreements.
A minimum of diploma in a relevant field (Agriculture, Economics, Statistics, Population studies, Development studies, and any other related courses)
Willingness to travel and reside in the field
Ability to work with minimum supervision
Knowledge of the local language in the proposed duty station
At least 2 years’ proven experience in agricultural extension and conducting similar trainings on the aforementioned crops.
Experience in using tablets for collection and remitting information to a data base will be an added advantage
