Jobs Opportunities at Management and Development for Health (MDH)

Management and Development for Health (MDH) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization whose primary aim is to contribute to address public health priorities of Tanzania and world at large. The priorities include: HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria; Reproductive, Maternal, New-born and Child health (RMNCH), Nutrition; Non-Communicable Diseases of public health significance; as well as Health System Strengthening. MDH strongly believes in and works in partnership various local and global institutions, Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MOHCDGEC); President’s Office Regional Authorities and Local Government (PORALG); donor agencies; as academic and non-academic institutions; implementing partners; civil society, communitybased and faith-based organizations and others. MDH (Sub recipient) in collaboration with Deloitte Consulting Limited (Prime) through USAID Boresha Afya – Southern Zone Program seeks to recruit qualified individuals to fill the following vacancies which will require significant field work and travel up to 80% of the time.

Location: LINDI &TUNDURU OFFICES
Reports to: REGIONAL TECHNICAL MANAGER.

Duties and Responsibilities:
 Lead and oversee planning, implementation and M&E of PMTCT and EID program and services under the USAID Boresha Afya – Southern Zone Program, in her/his respective council(s).
 Lad implementation of key program initiatives – in her/his unit – to address program, donor and
national priorities – such as index HIV testing, Option B+, male involvement, tracking of motherinfant pairs, follow-up of EID results in line with national guidelines.
 Provide TA to the R/CHMT and HFs in planning, implementation, M&E and reporting of PMTCT and EID services.
 Work with R/CHMT to ensure that supported facilities implement integrated and comprehensive package of PMTCT and EID services at all levels through:
o Participation in supportive supervision with R/CHMTs
o Participate in capacity building and implementation of the national guidelines and tools for PMTCT and EID services
o Be responsible with the achievement of program targets for PMTCT and EID services
o Strengthen systems for M&E of PMTCT and EID (paper tool and/or software) and ensure their availability and proper use at all supported facilities
 Support the capacity building activities in collaboration with R/CHMTs to identify training/mentorship needs at the supported facilities and organize trainings/mentorship program for facilities level staff using currently recommended national curriculums.
 Identify, conduct capacity building and effectively engage key community resource personsincluding CSOs, mother peers-to accelerate tracking of missing mother-infant pairs.
 Ensure timely collection and submission of PMTCT and EID data as well as support strengthening of the related M&E systems – in collaboration with the M&E team.
 Lead efforts to robustly analyse and utilize PMTCT and EID data to inform plans, priorities and resource allocation.
 Lead efforts to identify gaps in PMTCT and EID, design and implement CQI initiatives to address the gaps identified.
 Organize and support routine meetings with key project stakeholders to share, monitor and evaluate project progress towards assigned targets.
 Prepare timely quarterly and annual narrative reports, best practices, lessons learned and other relevant documents on PMTCT and EID services as assigned by line manager.
 Support and advise the line manager on all PMTCT and EID issues and perform other relevant duties as assigned by the line manager.

Requirements: Experience, educational and professional qualifications
a) Basic degree in Medicine or Nursing.
b) Master’s degree in Public Health or related field is an added advantage.
c) At least 3 years’ experience in managing public health programs/ services.
d) 2 years’ technical expertise in PMTCT and EID programs.
e) Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and Kiswahili.
f) Ability to work under pressure and stringent deadlines.


PEDIATRIC HIV ADVISOR- 1 post
Location: TUNDURU OFFICE
Reports to: REGIONAL TECHNICAL MANAGER

Duties and Responsibilities:
 Lead and oversee planning, implementation and M&E of Paediatric HIV services under the USAID Boresha Afya – Southern Zone Program, in her/his respective council(s).
 Lead implementation of key program initiatives – in her/his unit – to address program, donor and national priorities – such as Focused PITC, index HIV testing and accelerating children’s initiated on treatment (ACT) – in line with national guidelines.
 Provide TA to the R/CHMT and HFs in planning, implementation, M&E and reporting of Paediatric HIV services.
 Ensures that supported facilities implement integrated and comprehensive package of Pediatric
HIV services at all levels through various activities and support national and global priorities in Pediatric HIV.
 Support the capacity building activities in collaboration with R/CHMTs to identify training/mentorship needs at the supported facilities and organize trainings/mentorship program for

MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH INTERN – 2 posts
Location: DAR ES SALAAM
Reports to: REGIONAL MATERNAL AND CHILD HELTH MANAGER.

MDH is seeking for two interns to support the Maternal and Child Health unit

Duties and Responsibilities:
 To support the MCH unit in the implementation key initiatives to address key program, donor and national priorities including Early Infant Diagnosis (EID)index testing, male involvement, and accelerating children’s treatment (ACT) – in line with national guidelines, and Paediatric HIV care
 To support the MCH team in addressing capacity building needs in the provision of PMTCT & paediatric services through , mentorship, on-job training, CQI and other approaches in collaboration with DACC, DRCHCo and RCH-In charges
 To support MCH unit organizing, planning and conducting trainings, meetings, supportive supervision and mentorships
 To support mentors, HCP to compile comprehensive reports in DHIS, CTC and other government reporting tools.
 To support timely collection and submission of PMTCT, EID, Paediatric ART and RMNCH data – as well as support strengthening of the related M&E systems – in collaboration with the M&E team
 To support the RMCH Manager, and officer in writing technical program documents including, reports, best practices, lessons learned and other relevant documents
 To support district and regional MCHOs on all PMTCT, EID, Paediatric ART and RMNCH issues and perform other relevant duties as assigned by the RMCH Manager.

Requirements. Education, work experience and skills
 Degree or Advanced diploma in medicine, nursing or related field with relevant national registration
 Experience working in public health programs/ services
 At least 1 years of experience in, implementation, management and M&E of PMTCT, EID, Paediatric ART, RMNCH or related clinical and public health programs and services
 Able to write reports, best practices and lessons learned
 Excellent command of Swahili and English languages, in written and oral communication
 Experience in basic computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, Power point and internet
 Ability to work under pressure and stringent deadlines
