Literacy Facilitator, Literacy Field Tanzania – Remote
• Position Overview
The Literacy Facilitator is responsible for supporting and coaching teachers, librarians, and principals to adopt new ways of working with children to increase their literacy skills and habit of reading. The Literacy Facilitator will report to the Program Officer Literacy Field. The Literacy Facilitator has no direct reports.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Implementation, Training, and Monitoring
• Serves as the technical resource in the schools on applying literacy skills and the habit of reading techniques in the classroom or library.
• Through the Program Officer, Literacy Field, coordinates closely with the Instructional Design and Teacher Support Unit to ensure they are successfully implementing the program design and able to provide feedback on how well it is working.
• Regularly observes, demonstrates and coaches Grade 1 and 2 teachers in delivering the instructional component of the Literacy Program.
• Regularly observes, demonstrates and coaches all primary grade teachers and librarians in the implementation of the library period and reading activities.
• Supports Grade 1 and 2 teachers in effective use of ongoing student tracking assessments to inform instruction.
• Conducts and analyzes data related to formative student assessments to inform support for Grade 1 and 2 teachers.
• Regularly provides an update to the principal on progress and coaches him/her on ways to support teachers and ensure longer term sustainability of literacy outcomes within the school.
• Attends and participates in teacher and librarian training’s related to the Literacy program.
• Participates in literacy events, parent meeting and other community activities.
• Participates in regular review meetings and any other activities which may be required to be undertaken to fulfill the objectives of the organization.
• Supports donor visits through demonstration projects and presentation, as needed.
Planning, Reporting and Documentation
• Conducts ongoing planning, documentation, and reporting of school visits.
• Documents best practices and lessons learned and shares with the Program Officer, Literacy Field.
Qualifications and Experience:

Senior Social Mobilizer, GEP Tanzania – Remote
Position Overview
The senior social mobilizer is responsible for the implementation, coordination development and reporting of the Girls’ Education program in the respective school (s). She would serve as the first point of contact for the school, parents and scholars. The senior social mobilizer will report to the Program Officer – Girls Education. This position will be field based in one of the government schools and/or at the field office where required. The position will also involve regular interaction with school administrators, parents, School Management Committee members, teachers and scholars.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Program and Financial Management
• Develop a thorough understanding of Room to Read’s Girls’ Education program design
• Responsible for ongoing implementation of the Girls’ Education program under her jurisdiction, ensuring timely, efficient and well-coordinated implementation, adhering to the program and budget guidelines
• Responsible for managing relationships with school, community and respond to issues that may arise in these relationships.
• Assist the Girls Education Program officer in organizing and planning for and facilitating events, life skills camps, field trips and other educational based forums.

Field Operations Manager Tanzania – Remote
Position Overview
The Field Operations Manager (FOM) is responsible for Room to Read Tanzania’s field operations in a designated geographical area (Districts). The Field Operations Manager is primarily responsible for ensuring the timely and effective implementation of programs operations in the field, including implementation, spending, hiring, local procurement, inventory management, distribution and logistical support. The position is required to take initiative for project planning and management, improving work approaches, collaboration, partnerships, selection of projects sites, and ensuring adequate staff to work at the field level. S/he will work to strengthen coordination and collaboration within teams and across all Country Office program teams, maintaining and ensuring constructive communication, building team morale within individual teams and contributing to a positive working environment. S/he will report to the Program Operations Director and will have various positions reporting to him/her. The Field Operations Manager directly manages and supervises the Literacy Program Officers, Senior School Infrastructure Associate, and Girls’ Education Program (“GEP”) Program Officers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Management and Coordination
• Ensures efficient and effective coordination across all elements of the Literacy Program and Girls’ Education Program.
• Supervises and oversees the work of the field staff and is responsible for optimizing their productivity through effective management and leadership techniques (i.e., coaching/advising).
• Ensures staff are consistently complying and adhering to policies, procedures and guidelines articulated in the Country Office handbooks, and facilitates the dissemination of information to all staff members to promote transparency.
• Supports staff through consultation with Country Office level technical team to regularly assess staff capacity building needs.
• Ensures the performance management process is well-planned and conducted in a timely for all field staff. This includes setting performance goals, conducting progress check-ins, providing feedback, conducting year-end appraisals, and making recommendations for staff development and career advancement.
• Collaborates with Human Resources to handle recruitment and training of staff according to need and all other HR initiatives.
• Leads and facilitates field staff one on one, bi-weekly or monthly staff meetings to review progress against plans, find solutions to problems, share lessons learned, exchange expertise across programs, and to motivate, feedback and encourage teamwork.
• Ensures that field staff are aware of and understand the programs’ goals and objectives, working approaches and methodology, and have all necessary information related to annual plans, targets, and implementation calendars.
• Supervises fund disbursement, reviews and approves the field monthly financial expenses in accordance with financial and purchasing policy and procedures.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Program Operations Director or Country Director.
Program Implementation and Monitoring
• Leads, coordinates and reports the implementation and achievement of the Country Office program targets in the region, while ensuring high impact for children, quality and cost-effectiveness in accordance with the strategy, policies and guidelines of Room to Read.
• Conducts regular field visits to monitor and verify the programs’ progress and impact, understand the challenges and needs of stakeholders (e.g., Room to Read staff, Social Mobilizers, Field Facilitators, communities, children, etc…), and the appropriate Room to Read solutions.
• Oversees the implementation of the global Family & Community Engagement (“F&CE”) strategy in the region, including coordinating site selection activities, ensuring schools are advancing along the Family and Community Engagement strategy continuum, as appropriate, and supervising the regular support provided to schools by field staff.
• Identifies training needs, coordinate development and delivery of technical training to field staff.
Planning, Reporting and Documentation
• Develops the field office annual and long-term plans, and budgets appropriately to meet the goals and objectives of the Room to Read Country Office.
• Coordinates the timely completion of annual planning.
• Prepares monthly and quarterly implementation updates and budget forecasting.
• Develops quarterly report for distributing to partners, if applicable.
• Facilitates development/ completion of donor reports and quality pictures as required.
• Facilitate documentation of best practices and lessons learned.
External Coordination and Networking
• Attends to donor affairs including hosting donor and project site visits in collaboration with programs staff including providing feedback for the same.
• Meets regularly with local government representatives, NGO partners, school administrators and parent groups.
• Promotes and protects the reputation of Room to Read in external settings, ensuring that the organization’s experience and expertise is well communicated and consistently presented, and that we are looked upon as a professional Education organization.
• Liaises with NGO Partner and Government Agencies, especially at provincial and district education levels. This includes periodic meetings with partners to exchange information and updating programs’ work progresses.
School Infrastructure
• Supports the School Infrastructure Program Associate to create and review designs periodically for new classroom blocks, criteria and standards for repair and renovation of existing rooms, and internal designs for child-friendly furniture and classroom layouts in collaboration with Regional Office (RO) and Global Office (GO) School Infrastructure technical team and Country Office (CO) Literacy and Girls’ Education teams.
• In collaboration with the Literacy Director, Programs Operations Director, Country Director, and Regional and Global Office staff, annually reviews and improves the School Infrastructure program design, including community engagement strategies, community orientation agendas, and community-based construction trainings.
Qualifications and Experience:
Required:
• Master’s Degree in Education Administration, Social Science, Project Management, or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 5 years’ related work experience, with experience in leadership and management roles
• Strong planning, budgeting/financial management, administrative, supervisory, coaching and program development skills

Position Overview
The Officer, Instructional Design and Teacher Support (IDTS), is part of the Country Office Literacy Program technical team. S/he is responsible for supporting Room to Read’s program design and training curriculum related to grade 1 and 2 literacy instruction, primary grade library management and reading activities. In collaboration with the Global Literacy Team, Officer IDTS is also responsible for providing technical assistance, support and supervision on all aspects of the program design, including professional development to school and Room to Read staff about reading and writing instruction and library management activities. This position will report directly to the IDTS Manager.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Technical and Coordination support
• Support the IDTS manager in the contextualization of Professional Development Materials through translation, review and proof reading of materials.
• Supports, mentor and builds capacity of the Literacy Program Officers on the Instructional Design & Teacher Support, to continue developing their skills in understanding literacy instruction and library management from both a theoretical and practical perspective.
• Provides technical assistance to developing manuals and training modules.
• Collaborates with the Quality Reading Materials (QRM) unit through library visit and document the utilization of materials and ensure reading materials are appropriate and enhance the literacy and library experience.

Position Overview
The person in this role spends the majority of his or her time providing global marketing and awareness, fundraising, and country-specific communications support. This primarily includes providing material development and donor engagement support. It also includes vendor management and reporting, as well as local awareness and public relations.
This person reports directly to country director. The role works in close coordination and is in frequent contact with the global office of Room to Read, headquartered in San Francisco, California, USA, to ensure requests are understood and completed, guidelines are followed, and the role is supported with professional development opportunities and global office communications support.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Material Development and Support
• Create content for global office marketing materials. This includes collecting and writing stories about our impact, including photography and video-based stories; providing content for global office website; and supporting global awareness campaign content.
• Create content for unique stewardship materials for donor management.
• Using guidelines provided by global office, create or helping to create country office annual reports, newsletters, brochures/fact sheets, PowerPoint decks and other materials for local stakeholder meetings.
Donor Reporting
• Supports the Country Office by using the guidelines provided by the global office to identify, hire, supervise and train outside vendors (photographers, videographers, printing/design, etc.) to support both global office material development and donor reporting materials (e.g. project-specific photos).
• Review donor reporting photos to ensure high quality and guidelines followed.
• Taking photographs for donor reports.
• Provide language support for donor reports, as needed.
Donor Engagement
• Plan, coordinate and host support for donor visits and corporate employee engagement visits and volunteering.
• Support relationship management for existing corporate donors, including support to special corporate programmatic initiatives in-country and implement any specific public relations needs in country related to the partnership.
• Train country office staff on site visits and messaging (orientation and ongoing capacity building).
Creative Controller (Vendor Relations)
• Responsible for overseeing creative materials produced by the country office. This includes accountability of photo/video collection and quality control for global marketing and donor materials produced within the country office, working in close collaboration with the country director and program operations staff to complete tasks.
• Develop, implement and evaluate local public relations strategy based on local needs and target audience(s).
• Establish and maintain relationships with local journalists and news/media agencies.
• Support local PR/awareness raising opportunities, as needed, at celebrations and events.
• Act as brand custodian and ambassador to country office using global branding guidelines; train staff on message and brand training (new hires).
• Contribute local content on global and local social media feeds per global office. Guidelines. If there is no local social media presence, still contribute content to global office.
Supporting Donor Engagement Team
• Resource Refinement – Simplifying and further refining out Country Office training resources, and potentially testing updated versions with teams in the Country Office.
• Preparing PowerPoint training presentation for all new officers in Site Visits in the Country Office.
• Support upcoming treks.
• Donor Engagement Calendar, Reviewing and refining content and checking to see that information is consistent with Global Office approved Donor visit calendar, and also following up with Global Office to clarify/modify their calendars, along with other coordination and tool-building components.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Degree in a related field (e.g. communications, marketing, public relations etc.)
• 5 years of relevant work experience
• Prior experience in: creating communications materials; project management; is preferred.

Position Overview
The Associate, Administration (Field Office) will act as the point of contact for all administrative work across all Field Offices. She/he will provide all administrative support and managing queries related to administration; his/her main duties includes providing administration support across all 3 programs and to the all field based employees; managing offices stock, managing offices settings; managing the relationships of the service providers across field office; providing support to collect and submit finance documents to the Field Operations Manager for review and then submission to the Administration Manager who will be based at the Country Office.
