Position: Project Assistant WASH (1) Serengeti
WASH Project Manager 24-Months
The vacancy is open only for Tanzanian Nationals

To organize, supervise and monitor the implementation of innovative approaches in delivering water, water and sanitation initiatives in Kisangura and Sedeco ward, Serengeti. The job holder will also provide support in documenting outcomes from the initiatives, draw lessons to support sector engagement to bring lasting Health Change Vision of Amref Health Africa across the globe.

 Support the project/programme manager to engage with appropriate Government, NGOs/consultant, and contractors to undertake design, piloting and promotion of appropriate solid WASH activities.
 Assist in technical support to LGA, community, and consultants in mobilizing for WASH implementation
 Assist in supervising, training and other capacity-building initiatives under this project
 Facilitate the WASH – Usafi Kwa Afya project activities and ensure that are implemented in line with approved project documents including: Tanzania SWASH guidelines and other standards guided at the respective LGA
 Supporting the Project Manager in adhering to operational regulations and set standards for SWASH guidelines in the course of project implementation.
 Support and prepare all logistics in the course of the project implementation which include: Meetings and training
 Control the WASH-Usafi Kwa Afya project imprest advances and ensures all expenses are correctly surrendered.
 Facilitate the WASH – Usafi Kwa Afya project activities and ensure that are implemented in line with approved project documents including: Tanzania SWASH guidelines and other standards guided at the respective LGA
 In liaison with Project Manager ensure proper communication and involvement of District partners in the project activities implementation such as. DWE, DC, DED, DSWASH Coordinator, DEO, DMO, and village officers.
 Provide supportive supervision of partners and consolidate reports
 Support prepare and coordinate project monthly, and quarterly monitoring, evaluation and documentation of the progress of initiatives and contribute to the annual report.
 Provide support to local partners to organize annual planning and review meetings
 Participate and contribute to Amref Health Africa Tanzania and partner’s participation in national WASH events.
 Support any other responsibilities, tasks or activities as reasonably required by your Line Manager


 Bachelor of science in Water, Sanitation, community development, Public health engineering or environmental science/engineering
 Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in WASH, project management public health

Position: Human Resources Officer
Location: Amref Health Africa Country Office in Dar es Salaam
Reports to: Human Resources Manager

Purpose of the Job
To provide strategic support to the Human Resources functions, Administration and Management and ensuring that operations of the entire Amref Health Africa in Tanzania country program support services run efficiently and effectively in a cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities/Key Results Areas (KRAS)
 Employees Relationship
 Provide ongoing coaching, support and advice to the management and employees on people and HR related issues.
 Provide timeous feedback and maintain professional communication to all stakeholders of Amref Health Africa.
 Being available and proactive in addressing people-related issues in the Organization by maintaining a close relationship with the employees at all levels.
 Support the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems within Amref Health Africa
 Performance Management
 Assist in ensuring of the effective communication and implementation of Performance Management system in accordance with Amref Health Africa human resources manual
 Assist the management with identifying of the top performers and implement appropriate action plans to further enhance their performance and career in the organization.
 Responsible on identifying of non-performers and assist management to develop personal development plans and monitor their progress on a monthly basis
 Compliance Management
 Provide guidance on compliance and counseling on Amref Health Africa policies, procedures and best practice
 Oversee training of Amref Health Africa staff in safety procedures and first aid caregiving and compliance to standard operating procedures by Amref Health Africa staff and high performance by security service providers.
 Work with teams to design strategies for continuous process improvement to ensure the sustainability of operations at all levels.

 Create, supervise and implement effective onboarding plans as per Amref Health Africa
 Identify the right candidates for the right job through assessments, interviews and employee profiling processes
 Maintain fair and equitable recruitment approach in line with the specific job requirements
 Conduct relevant employment background and reference checks on all employees and prepare job offers to the successful candidates
 Create a pool of suitable candidates for future employment on database to meet the employment demands of the business
 Employee Administration
 Ensure that contracts of permanent and temporary staff are prepared in collaboration with other departments.
 Ensure that salary packages of Amref Health Africa staff members are prepared as per Organization Human Resources policy.
 Ensure that files are opened for new appointments and transfers are done.
 Ensure that files are closed when employees resign or services are terminated.
 Ensure that Timesheet, attendance register sheets are scrutinized monthly.
 Ensure that new employee’s forms and contracts are received and completed (Pension Fund, Medical Aid, Social Security, etc.)
 Disciplinary & Grievances
 Take part in the disciplinary hearing process, assist to verify and confirm warnings and monitor improvement of undesirable behavior and misconduct
 Routine Administrative functions
 Support the Amref Health Africa HR Unit to conduct staff exit interviews to minimize the staff turnover and retain good performers
 Manage employee mobility through transfers, promotions, and terminations
 Ensure that all letters and other correspondences are correct, signed and send out on time
 Provide input to the policy and procedure formulation and amendments on an ongoing basis

Qualification, skills, and experience

 Bachelor Degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, and Business Administration.
 Master’s degree in Human Resources Management, Strategic Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Laws and Business Administration
 Should have strong experience and background in managing compliance issues relating to donors regulations, statutory regulations and local/international established professional standards
 Minimum five years’ experience in a similar role, and working at least three years in an NGO or a donor-funded project
 Skilled in Administration, organization development, strategic orientation, and team orientation
 Thorough understanding of the local labor laws; confidentiality, analytical with an eye for detail

Position: Sanitation Project Officer (1) E
Job Location: Mwanza Municipality
Report to: WASH Programme Manager
Duration: 24-Months

To implement and pilot this project Amref Health Africa in Tanzania seeks a Sanitation Project Manager for Mwanza urban work, who will be responsible for the management, implementation, and supervision of pro-poor solid waste and feacal sludge management activities and ensure proper coordination with the other programmes to promote integrated approaches. As a middle manager, you will follow up and supervise the implementation of interventions, scrutinize plans and reports to ensure there is coherence between projects towards the attainment of the Country Strategic Plan. The project manager will participate in relevant country programme resources mobilization initiatives that aim to sustain the programme development

 Ensure correct technical design of WASH project proposal and the respect of project cycle
 Ensure timely implementation and reporting of project activities to the line manager and to the donor.
 Support proposals writing and implementation of WASH assessments.
 Support the development of Amref Health Africa WASH Strategy.
 Responsible for coordinating activities both in project area and elsewhere as directed by the line manager to ensuring the promotion of an integrated approach with other programmes.
 Ensure regular staff supervision, field visits and action-oriented feedback for monitoring and evaluation, adherence to accountability procedures and documentation.
 Compile and write weekly, monthly quarterly and annual reports about the project progress to be shared with the programme manager and M&E Manager on a timely basis.
 Directly responsible for liaison with the different stakeholders and the authorities in the project implementation areas.

 Expertise in government, nongovernmental, and community capacity building for Sanitation
 Good working experience in community participation and development.
 Demonstrated ability to design and implement strategies that employ evidence-based approaches to meet project targets, especially under rigorous timelines.
 Experience working and collaborating with diverse sets of stakeholders, such as local NGOs, government officials, donor representatives, and international staff
 Experience in feacal sludge management (FSM), sanitation marketing and promotion

Position: Project Officer – Construction (1
Location: Amref Health Africa in Simiyu – Bariadi DC
Project Manager

The vacancy is open only for Tanzanian Nationals
To lead and provide technical/engineering support on construction work (rehabilitation/renovation) for Uzazi Uzima Project in Simiyu Region, in all proposed health facilities, in terms of infrastructures and sanitation facilities including improving water sanitation and hygiene (WASH) conditions through borehole drillings and water supply network infrastructures of health centers (HCs) and dispensaries. Also, to support the Project Manager in the implementation of Uzazi Uzima II project to ensure timely implementation of project construction activities to achieve the project goals and targets.

 Act as a construction Project Manager who will be accountable for the technical expertise, implementation and supervision of all construction works of Uzazi Uzima Project.
 In collaboration with Project Manager, s/he will implement planned project activities and prepare, activity reports, monthly reports and donor reports
 To ensure construction of facilities are done adequately to increase access to adequate and safe water in health care facilities and dispensaries.
 To support the increase of sanitation and hygiene facilities and practices in health care facilities and dispensaries
 To conduct day today site supervision of construction work in the 24 health facilities to ensure quality and standards are being met
 Ensure compliance with environment management policy – EMP and compliance with relevant environmental, waste management, and gender audits, is included in the contract documents for contractor
 Address queries from prospective bidders/contractors, carrying out pre-tender site meetings and preparation of minutes of meeting
 Conduct comprehensive supervision with the District Authorities on activities carried out by the contractors to ensure complete compliance with the drawings, technical specifications and various stipulations contained in the contract documents
 In collaboration with district and regional authorities, monitor all construction as per work-plan and environmental management plan and produce construction reports
 Support District engineers to regularly monitor the progress and quality or certification of all construction works, and to submit construction progress reports to Amref Health Africa – Tanzania
 Checking and revising the Contractor’s programme to ensure completion of works within deadline as per signed contract
 Address al contractor’s claims and any contractual matters that may come up during project implementation
 To ensure that gender is being mainstreamed in all constructed and renovated facilities
 To ensure timely, efficient and appropriate use of project funds for specific deliverables are met and that and payments to contractors and personnel are received on time as per work certification.
 To liaison with Project Manager to ensure proper communication and involvement with district partners on implementation of project activities.
 To liaison with Project Manager to ensure necessary communication with consortium partners, government ministries and contractors
 To support Project Manager in Project development, concept note, and proposal writing in consistent with Amref Health Project goal and strategy.
 To work closely with local and national government authorities? For hand-over of completed construction works.
 To prepare and submit to the project manager, technical activity reports, monthly reports, quarterly reports and donor reports


 First or higher degree in one of the following disciplines : Water or Sanitary Engineering / Civil Engineering/ Water Resources management /Hydrology /Environmental Engineering/ Environmental Sciences and management
 Experience of working in Construction and/or WASH related projects is an added advantage
 Good mobilization and facilitation skills
 Ability to work independently
