About Tabora Boys’ Secondary School

Tabora Boys’ Secondary School (popularly known as Tabora School or Tabora Boys’) is one of the best public schools in Tanzania founded in 1922. The school has carved itself a large niche in the not so long wall of Tanzania’s history.
The school was established to educate sons of African Chiefs. The boys who were students alongside Nyerere and those who came later have been some of major players in the country’s political, economic and social development. This is noted of the fact that the ministers in the first independent Government were at the school during or just after the second World War (WWII). The first self-government cabinet in 1961 had 8 ministers whose 5 were Taborans (popularly known as Waboyzia). It is indisputable fact that the higher echelon of the Government of Tanzania by then were dominated by Waboyzia. After independence the school started to habour the best performing students in the country.
