Tanpack Tissues Limited was established in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in late 1995. It is a group company of Chandaria Group which has its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. Chandaria Group is one of the largest business group in Kenya, East & Central Africa. The Group’s operations span Tissue, Paper & Hygiene Products Manufacturing, Real Estate, Venture Capitalism, Insurance, Banking, Automobile Manufacturing, Mining and Solar Energy Generation. Geographically spread across Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, India and Dubai. The group’s business is managed by the Group Managing Director, Mr. Mahesh Chandaria and his 2 sons Dr. Darshan Chandaria (Group CEO) and Mr. Neer Chandaria (Group Sales & Marketing Director).
Group’s first company, Chandaria Industries is the largest company within the group’s portfolio and was established on 1st May 1964. The company started out as a small tissue converting operation. Today, Chandaria Industries and Tanpack Tissues combined make Chandaria Group the largest Tissue and Hygiene products manufacturer in Kenya, East, and Central Africa. Group’s state of the art recycling and waste management systems, processes and technology have made it a global case study with leading international education institutions and an outstanding example of corporate sustainability for other corporates worldwide.
Being an ISO 9001-2008 certified company, its processes and systems ensure the manufacturing of quality products. CIL benchmarks quality standards not with Kenyan or East African Standards but with those of the International Standards Organisation (ISO). To ensure it tests every required parameter correctly, a state-of-the-art European testing laboratory has been setup at its site in Ruaraka, Nairobi.
Today Tanpack Tissues produces a wide range of tissue and paper products, such as various grades of toilet tissue, serviettes, hand paper towels, exercise book cover, envelope and bag kraft papers. Recycling is a core part of the company’s business sustainability and corporate heritage as it recycles different grades of paper waste like cardboards, office waste, printing and corrugated industry waste to produce various tissue and paper products. The water used in the manufacturing process is recycled back into the facility to allow maximum efficiency and minimum water consumption.
The company is also trusted by many banks, healthcare & educational institutions, NGOs and government offices with their paper waste that may contain some classified or confidential information. The company carefully collects and shreds such documents instantly and completely before using it as paper waste for various recycled tissue and paper products. Tanpack Tissues operates with the philosophy of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle which makes it an environmentally sensitive and a low environmental foot-print company. Through its recycling-based operations, the company has created direct and indirect employment for over 500 families in paper waste collection, sorting, baling and in its manufacturing processes. The company alone has saved over 1 million trees by recycling paper waste over the past 21 years and stays determined to save many more.
Tanpack Tissues has been awarded a number of accolades, a couple of the most prominent ones being the President’s Manufacturer of the Year Award (PMAYA) for the year 2005, 2009, 2011, 2015 & 2016 under the medium scale industry category, which was organized by Confederation of Tanzania Industries and in 2016 & 2017, was rated amongst Top Hundred mid-sized companies in Tanzania, which was organized by KPMG.
