Army Learnership Programme
The South African Army has established a program for young South African citizens to serve for a two-year program thanks to its Military Skills Development Program. This program caters to South African youths, more specifically unemployed matriculants.
This program is purely voluntary and will not only benefit the candidate with skills and working experience, but it will also bring innovation and enhancement to the South African National Defense Force.
Anyone interested in joining this program is welcome to apply. Applicants will need to adhere to specific selection criteria set by the SANDF and will need to have all forms completed.
Successful Military Skills Development System candidates will be appointed in a specific mustering and will be called up to a Training Unit, where members will complete their Basic Military Training, specific mustering and functional training in the first year and be utilized or deployed internally or externally in the second year of the MSDS.
Programme Requirements
Interested candidates who want to apply for this learnership position should ensure that they meet the following criteria
- 18-22 years and has successfully completed Grade 12.
- Graduates up to the age of 26 (360 Credits)
- Successfully completed Grade 12 with average of 50% or (Level 4) (Mathematics and Physical Science will be advantageous)
- Admission Point Score (APS) of 17 excluding Life Orientation (LO)
Physical Requirements:
- Minimum Height Females – 148cm
- Minimum Height Males – 155cm
- Minimum Weight Females – 48kg
- Minimum Weight Males – 52kg
- Applicants should be within an average weight-to-height ratio.

Army Learnership Stipend
When you register for a Learnership you will be paid in the form of a stipend. This means you will be paid monthly while you are on the entire learnership.
