Programme Requirements
Interested candidates who want to apply for this learnership position should ensure that they meet the following criteria;
- Must have completed Matric (NSC) or Technical Matric with a minimum result of 40% for Mathematics, English and Physical Science
- OR
- Must have completed an NCV3 with a minimum of 40% in Pure Mathematics (NOT Mathematics Literacy) and relevant subjects
- OR
- Must have completed an N2 with 4 subjects that are relevant
- Must have experience as an artisan’s assistant (advantageous)
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills
- Must have good, basic communication skills
- Must be physically fit to fulfill duties (or must present a Certificate of Fitness from a medical practitioner)
- Must have a clean credit record

About Styldrift mine
Styldrift is a mechanised underground mine, with an average mining depth of 680m, located around 5km from brpm’s north shaft.
The Styldrift site (which lies within the boundaries of the Styldrift and Frischgewaagd farms) was established in 2009 on one of the last known high grade blocks of shallow Merensky reef deposits.
In the second half of 2015, the RBPlat Board made the strategic decision to defer the ramp-up at Styldrift, due to the material reduction in platinum group metal prices at the time.
Towards the latter half of 2016 the progress made at Styldrift, as well as basket price improvements, allowed Royal Bafokeng Platinum (RBPlat) to commit to the next phase of expansion, which ramped up the mine to 150ktpm. This milestone was achieved in October 2018. At steady state Styldrift will produce 2760ktpa/320kozpa (4E), which we expect to achieve during 2022 subject to any unforeseen circumstances and operational disruptions. Current Merensky and UG2 resources support a life of mine in excess of 40 years
