Thungela Resources invites applications for the Graduate Trainee Programme 2023, also know as the Professional in Training (PIT) programme.
Join us for a fixed term fast paced experiential graduate programme that will set you up with the skills and experience you need to excel in your chosen career.
The Thungela Professional in Training (PIT) programme is designed to equip you with the necessary practical and theoretical training to set yourself up for success and potentially take up a substantive role within the Company once you have successfully completed the outcomes of the Graduate Trainee Programme.
Programme Requirements
Interested candidates who want to apply for this learnership position should ensure that they meet the following criteria;
Rock Engineering
- Bachelors’ Degree in Mining Engineering or a related Science fields (NQF Level 7)
- Proven completion of a project relevant to field of study
- Prior temporary working experience in field of study will be an advantage
- Basic theoretical knowledge in Strata Control will be an advantage
Mining
- BTech, National Advanced Diploma, BSC Degree in Mining Engineering (NQF Level 7)
- Driver’s license required
- Ability to obtain a valid certificate of fitness
- Proven completion of a project relevant to field of study
- Prior temporary working experience in field of study will be an advantage
Human Resources
- Bachelors’ Degree in Human Resource Management or Industrial Psychology (NQF Level 7)
- Driver’s license required
- Ability to obtain a valid certificate of fitness
- Proven completion of a project relevant to field of study
- Prior temporary working experience in field of study will be an advantage
Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene
- BSC Degree or equivalent in Mining Engineering or Occupational Hygiene (NQF Level 7)
- Driver’s license required
- Ability to obtain a valid certificate of fitness
- Proven completion of a project relevant to field of study
- Prior temporary working experience in field of study will be an advantage
Engineering
- BSC Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering (NQF Level 7)
- Driver’s license required
- Ability to obtain a valid certificate of fitness
- Proven completion of a project relevant to field of study
- Prior temporary working experience in field of study will be an advantage

Thungela Learnership Stipend
When you register for a Learnership you will be paid in the form of a stipend. This means you will be paid monthly while you are on the entire learnership.
