Learnerships for People with Disability: Requirements
Due to the vastness of fields, learnerships available for people with disability have a variety of requirements for each. Some of these are similar and we have listed those here. However, depending on the field you enter, there may be additional requirements. These will be advertised on the application form, the company or organization’s web page, or the learnership advertisement.
Minimum Requirements may be as follow:
- Candidates must be a citizen of South Africa
- Must not be employed and hold a valid ID document
- Candidates must not have any criminal record
- Must have a valid Grade 12 certification
- You must be no older than 35 years
- Candidates must be fluent in English and have exceptional communication skills
- Applicants must provide a medical certificate stating the nature of the disability
- All applicants must have a diploma or degree in the field of application where relevant
Learnerships Especially for People with Disability: Application Process
Learnerships online application is offered by most companies and organizations. There are some that still use hand-delivered or posted applications and they usually have a downloadable application form or send it via email. If this is their system, it will be clearly stated in the learnership advertisement or on the company’s website.
These learnerships typically run for 12 or 24 months and include a basic stipend monthly. They do not include accommodation, meals, and transport unless stated so. The application must be completed in full with current contact detail and signed by the applicant. Applicants can also submit a CV, recommendation letters, and referrals if they have one.
