The Higher Education Student Loan Board (HESLB) has released a list of 11,378 students in 2019/2020 who have been allocated for a second batch loan.
HESLB’s executive director, Abdul-Razaq Badru released the statement today on Saturday October 26, 2019, stating that the beneficiaries so far are 42,053 of the first year. He said the loan they received was equivalent to Sh148.56 billion.
Badru said in 2019/20, the government has allocated Sh450 billion for 128,285 students.
He noted that of those students, over 45,000 are undergraduate and 83,285 are undergraduate students.
“In 2018/2019 an amount of Sh427.5 billion was allocated to benefit 123,285 students including 41,285 first year,” he said.
He said the board had improved the system, now the student can open his student loan application for Student’s Individual Permanent Account (SIPA) and will have access to his credit information including credit rating.
Badru said all the names of the successful applicants for the first and second loan applications are available on HESLB’s loan application (https://olas.heslb.go.tz) and the board’s website (www.heslb.go.tz).
He urged the loan applicants to remain calm while the loan planning process for qualifying students for the next phase is underway.
In the first phase list announced last week, 30,675 first-year students received a loan of Sh113.5 billion.
