About Mbinga District Council (DC)
Mbinga District Council is one of the eight Ruvuma Regional Councils, Mbinga District Head is located at a distance of km. 96 West Regional Headquarters and km. 1,100 from Dare es Salaam. The Council borders Nyasa District to the South and West, Mbinga Urban District Council and Songea District to the East and Ludewa District (Njombe Region) to the North
Mbinga Rural Council covers an area of 6,319.31 square kilometers, 5 divisions, 29 wards, 118 villages and 787 neighborhoods and has one constituency.
The district has a population of 353,683 of whom 172,402 are males equivalent to 48.7 per cent and females are 181,281 equivalent to 51.3 per cent of the total population in the District, according to the 2012 Population and Housing Census. The population increase is 2.9%. The main tribe are the Unitarians who are engaged in agriculture, there are also Wangoni and Manda.
