Karume Institute of Science and Technology (KIST)
Karume Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) is a parastatal organization under the Ministry of education and Vocational Training. It is entrusted with the responsibility of preserving, enhancing, transmitting and disseminating knowledge in science and techno logy by teaching, conducting reseach and consultancy in various field in the country.
KIST was established by the Act no.2 of House of Representative of Zanzibar of 2009 of successor to Karume Technical Collage (KTC) and become operational in 3rd October 2009.
Welcome to Karume Institute of Science and Technology

It is entrusted with the responsibility of preserving, enhancing, transmitting and disseminating knowledge in a science and technology by teaching, conducting research and consultancy in various fields in the country. Karume Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) provides Technical Education, Due to rapid technological changes in the world today in many fields, there are ever widening technical skill gaps in the labour market of scientists, technicians and engineers.
KIST has set for itself the task of responding to these changes at the same pace as that at which the technology is changing by making frequent reviews of its curricula and developing new curricula and programmes to fit and fill the skill gaps that new technologies pose. KIST, therefore plays its role of training scientists, engineers and technologists in numbers and quality so as to spearhead development in the public and private sector.
